Ruzirabwoba - meaning “he who is not afraid” in Kinyarwanda - is one of the Solitary Silverbacks who roams the Gorilla Sector of Virunga.
He went missing between January and September 2007 - we are not sure exactly where he went as the Gorilla Sector is 250 square kilometres so it is hard to keep track of Solitary Silverbacks when they decide to wander. And then, just as we had seen him again, we had to abandon this part of the park until November 2008 because of the war.
This video is the first ever video of Ruzirabwoba, filmed in January 2009. You can tell when you watch this video why he is not afraid of anything.
